Kindergarten
The Nursery children transfer into our three Kindergarten classes in the September following their third birthday. They are joined by additional ‘new’ pupils, all of whom attend five mornings and two afternoons during the Autumn Term, with an option of a further two afternoons chosen between Monday and Thursday. Summer birthday children (May - August) have the option of attending one afternoon or even mornings only during the Autumn Term. All children also have the option of staying at school on Friday afternoons, when they are pooled from the three classes into a Kindergarten Group to enjoy a range of creative and play activities.
During the year, the number of afternoons the children are in school slowly increases to help them prepare for full days in the Pre-Prep. In the Spring Term, all children attend five mornings plus a minimum of three afternoons chosen between Monday and Thursday. In the Summer Term, all children attend four afternoons Monday to Thursday. Participation in the Friday afternoon Kindergarten Group is optional.
Morning sessions are from 9.00am (with drop-off from 8.50am) to 11.45am, and extended days end at 3.00pm. When staying for full days, the children bring their lunch in a lunch box which they eat together in the classroom. This enables parents to monitor daily what their children eat. We have had a ‘nut-free’ policy for a number of years to not put at risk children with nut allergies.
There are currently three kindergarten classes, each of which is set up with a variety of activity corners and equipped with its own toilets.
The Kindergarten children wear the same overalls as the Nursery children; they can be obtained from the School Office.
