The Nursery children transfer into the Kindergarten the September following their third birthday. They are joined by additional ‘new’ pupils.
During the course of the year, the number of afternoons the children are in school slowly increases to prepare them for full days in Reception. During the autumn term, they attend five mornings plus a minimum of two afternoons per week. There is an exception for children whose third birthday is in the preceding summer (May-August); they have the option of attending one afternoon or just mornings. In the spring term, all children attend five mornings plus a minimum of three afternoons. This increases to a minimum of four afternoons in the summer term.
All children have the option of attending full days Monday to Friday. On afternoons when the numbers are small they are typically pooled to engage in a range of appropriate creative and play activities suitable for an afternoon.
Morning sessions are from 9.00am (with drop-off from 8.50am) to 11.45am, and extended days end at 3.00pm. When staying for full days, the children bring their lunch in a lunch box which they eat together in the classroom. This enables parents to monitor daily what their children eat. We have a ‘nut-free’ policy.
There are currently three kindergarten classes, each of which is set up with a variety of activity corners and equipped with its own toilets.
Nursery and Kindergarten children wear a simplified version of the Pre-Prep uniform. There are various top/bottom mix-and-match options to give parents plenty of flexibility. Only a few items are required, and they can also be worn in Reception.
