Herne Hill School was founded in 1976 as a Nursery in the charming grounds of the Old Vicarage, tucked away behind St. Paul’s Church. Building on its success and responding to parents’ requests, it expanded ten years later to also become a Pre-Preparatory School. In the late nineties, the purpose built Mulberry building was added. It was recently extended to provide modern, bright and spacious classrooms which combine with the homely, cosy feel of the Old Vicarage and the adjacent Nature Area to create an environment uniquely suited for young children and conducive to learning.
Today, Herne Hill School is a thriving, buzzing school with approximately 250 boys and girls aged 3-7 years. The school is independently owned, with the Director, Mr. Dominik Magyar, taking an active role in overseeing the direction of the school. He can be reached through the school office during both term times and holidays. The Headteacher, Mrs. Jane Beales, has been with the school since 1990 and is in charge of all curriculum and teaching matters.
