ISI Inspection

Reception children having fun in the playgroundPlayground full of happy and engaged children

As a long-standing member of the Independent Schools Association (ISA), one of the associations making up the Independent Schools Council (ISC), Herne Hill School is regularly inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), which is approved and monitored by Ofsted. The last comprehensive inspection took place during the entire week of 6-10 June 2005, when five inspectors closely scrutinised all aspects of teaching, learning and school life at Herne Hill School. You can read their full report on the ISI website by clicking here.

The inspectors delivered a strong endorsement of the School’s ethos, staff, curriculum, modus operandi and infrastructure. We are particularly proud of the recognition our pupils and staff received for their dedication and hard work. The inspectors repeatedly mention the children’s enthusiastic attitudes to learning and their exemplary behaviour, and the quality of teaching and of our staff was rated highly. Since the publication of the report, the three areas of improvement identified by the inspectors have all been addressed.
